National Black Movie Day™
February 20th, 2021

Year after year, Black films and filmmakers are overlooked and underappreciated during awards season. National Black Movie Day™ is a newly organized holiday purposed to honor and promote Black achievements in film. The commemorative day is to acknowledge, celebrate and support the continued contribution of Black talent to and within the film industry.

National Black Movie Day™ also Celebrates…

The Black Movie Consumer – The people who spend their dollars and support Black films. Without the Black movie consumer, African American films would be nonexistent. To you we say, “Thank you for your watching and patronizing Black films.”

On Saturday, February 20, 2021, Let’s stand in solidarity for Black movies and observe National Black Movie Day.

Here’s how you can participate:

  1. Watch a Black movie in theaters on February 20, 2021.
  2. Watch Black movies at home between 6am and midnight on February 20, 2021.
  3. Participate in a National Black Movie Day (TM) 2021 Event.
  4. Donate to National Black Movie Association to sponsor a student attending a Historically Black College and University majoring in a film profession.
  5. Join the social media chat @nationalblackmovieday on Twitter and @nationalblackmovieday on Instagram and Facebook to win prizes.
  6. Host a National Black Movie Day™ event in your home.
